My name is Molly Slavin. I am an Assistant Professor of English at Clark Atlanta University. I received my PhD from Emory University in May 2018, and previously worked as a Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow at Georgia Tech. My research and teaching interests include contemporary postcolonial, British, and Irish literatures; prison education and mass incarceration; rhetorics and narratives of crime; neoliberalism; urban spaces and studies; mobility and travel; and postcolonial theory. Hi! I just wanted to drop you a line and say thanks for being on the SAGE publications podcast where you talk about your paper “An act of geographical violence…”. I’m basically an armchair scholar and I was fascinated by how you drew the connection between the desire to solve crimes and the desire to fill in blank spaces on a map!

Molly–thanks for the interesting paper. Your ref to the novel about the Truth Commission reminded me that Kader Asmal had gone back to SA post-94 to be Minister of Water (he was one of the few who got high marks for his work in gov’t as I remember!). He was something of a critic of the TRC (again, as I remember) for letting perpetrators off the hook.
